AB690 (Campos), the proposed California Jobs Act, is a one-of-a-kind JOBS bill.
It provides a tool to restore many of the jobs lost in California by providing tax-increment financing (TIF) for public-private projects that meet the test of job creation while funding the education and training programs that help boost California’s workforce. TIF is the gold standard for economic development in 47 other states and AB690 focuses this powerful tool to get California back to work.
The jobs created locally then produce the income and sales tax that make up 85% of the State’s budget, working toward fiscal sustainability while reducing the State’s burden to fund unemployment benefits. Cities and counties benefit from a prosperous and healthier workforce. AB690 is a responsible alternative to raising taxes.
